The last week of June 2018, I was in Geneva for several UN meetings, including a side-event at the 38th session of the Human Rights Council entitled ‘Legal Frameworks to end Female Genital Mutilation: closing the implementation gab’ was organized in Palais des Nations.

From the 18th until the 29th of June 2018, a Summer School entitled ‘The Immigrant Child: Challenges and opportunities in international migration for children’ was organized by the Institute of Immigration Law at Leiden University. I was invited to give a guest lecture about Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting as a ground for international protection under refugee law.

In May 2018, my case note was published in Jurisprudentie Vreemdelingenrecht, a Dutch journal that publishes on asylum and refugee law. A couple of weeks ago, I received an invitation of Mr. G.E.W. Westendorp of the Foundation Migration Law Netherlands (Stichting Migratierecht Nederland) to write a case note on the recent views expressed by the Committee on the Rights of the Child pursuant to an individual complaint.

From February until April 2018, I was involved in the course ‘International Law in Practice’ at the University of Groningen. This course was organized by the Department of Public International Law as part of the LLM Master programme Public International Law.

An article was published in a well-known Dutch daily morning newspaper (De Volkskrant). A journalist had interviewed me about my field research for the UN in Burkina Faso.
