Thursday the 24th of March 2016, a seminar was organized by the African Studies Centre (ASC) in Leiden. The title of the seminar was “Empty Promises? Compliance with the human rights framework in relation to Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting in Senegal.” The seminar was held at the Pieter de la Court building of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of Leiden University.

In March 2016, I was interviewed (in Dutch) by Bert Kranenbarg at NPO Radio 1. I was very excited! It was not necessary to travel to Hilversum, but a technician came to Tilburg for the interview.

I was invited by the Vital Aid Foundation to be the ‘guest of honor’ during the Celebration of International Women’s Day in The Hague. In my key-note speech, I emphasized the need to be aware of the challenges millions of girls and women face every day, to call for action and to celebrate progress made.

In 2013 I authored my first UN report and today I found to my great suprise an envelope from the headquarters of UNFPA in New York on my doorstep with a hardcopy!
