Graduation Ceremony PPLE 2022

The 18th of July 2022, the Graduation Ceremony took place of PPLE. In the beautiful Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, more than 160 students graduated from the multidisciplinary bachelor programme combining Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics of the University of Amsterdam.

PPLE College is a unique multidisciplinary Bachelor’s programme formed between the faculties of Economics and Business, Social and Behavioural Sciences, and Law to present a more comprehensive approach to contemporary social issues. The programme is founded on the notion that contemporary challenges posed by a globalizing economy, international terrorism, and social inequality cannot be addressed from the vantage point of only one academic discipline.

It is an English-taught programme, with a mix of Dutch and foreign students. In this programme, Dr. Annemarie Middelburg teaches various courses, including Public International Law and History of Legal Theory and she was very proud to see so many of the students that she had in her class over the past years in beautiful dresses and suits getting their diploma's. There were various beautiful speeches, for example of the Dean Radboud Winkels and prof. Désirée van Gorp that highlighted the many challenges the student had faced over the past years, including hybrid and online teaching due to COVID-19, but also the highlights of three years studying and becoming a real community and they shared some good advises for their future careers.

It was really special that it was possible to have the ceremony in real-life and all students could bring their friends and family to witness this important milestone in their lives. The venue was absolutely stunning - it felt a bit royal with the red carpet! Or maybe we just think that - since princess Amalia will start at PPLE at the University of Amsterdam in the upcoming academic year! After the ceremony we had dinner with all lecturers and tutors of PPLE to close the academic year. It was a beautiful summer night in Amsterdam and we really enjoyed it!
